Campaign Finance 2020: Senate District 10

A graph showing the contributions and expenditures of both candidates, as detailed in the article
Despite out-raising and out-spending her opponent, Democrat Jackie Grimes lost her bid for the senate seat to Republican Rep. Dan Furphy, HD-14. The Senate District 10 seat was left open due to the upcoming early retirement of current Sen. Glenn Moniz. It was a rare red win in a county where several other Democrat opponents overcame their Republican opposition.

Drawing on data from the Wyoming Secretary of State’s office, the following is a breakdown of both campaigns’ contributions during the 2020 race for Senate District 10.

Jackie Grimes raised a total of $18,378 with an average donation of $107.47. Grimes spent $730 of her own money on her senate bid. Her top donors include labor, education and public servant PACs, as well as individual Laramie residents.

Dan Furphy raised a total of $12,885.50, with an average donation of $268.45. Furphy spent $2000 of his own money on his successful bid for senate. His top donors included energy, construction and hospital PACs, as well as individual Laramie residents.
